Pasadena resident Robert Lee Wagner, 39, is facing multiple charges for an incident in February when he allegedly set fire to a commercial shed behind Checkers on Mountain Road.
It is alleged that shortly after 10 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 25, a passerby reported to the Anne Arundel County Fire Department that a miscellaneous debris stacked around the back of the abandoned restaurant had been tampered with.
When firefighters arrived, they found an unknown man - later identified as Wagner - adding items to the fire before he attempted to flee on foot while crews extinguished the flames.
Wagner didn’t get very far.
Police and fire investigators canvassed the area, and within an hour, Wagner was picked up and positively identified as the man spotted adding fodder to the already burning fire.
Wagner was charged with:
- Second-degree arson;
- Malicious burning;
- Reckless endangerment.
No return court date has been announced by officials.
